My labour of love

Over the years, I have gained experience and skills to work in the area of intersection between technology and art. I code and draw with the same care and joy, but I accept that my favorite medium is the web because of the chances of interaction that it offers.

On a personal level, music, exercise, and my family is the fuel which complements my life.

My path

Certainly, my path has not been linear. I've worked in different roles and settings, such as editorial, pharmaceutical, and e-commerce industries with a pit stop at academia. In addition, my range of responsibilities has been from graphic design, teaching support, senior web developer, and head of the technology department of an American company, FiftyFlowers, which also has offices in Ecuador, my country.

Skills

I've been part of the different eras of the web, and I learned something from each stage. First, I enjoyed creating custom interfaces with flash. From this phase, I developed my skill to organize code into classes (OOP). Besides, I used Illustrator to create icons. Next, web development committed to standards technologies like Javascript and CSS, so I moved too. Here, I met Jquery and Ajax, which allows to update small parts of a webpage. The next logic step was coding single page applications, which uses pre-made UI controls-widgets like tab panels, grids of data, or date pickers. Also, my role at that time required me to visualize task dependencies to organize team work. In between the ever evolving web scene, I managed to develop my drawing and painting skills and look for ways to make art and tech work together.

Degree and certificates

I completed a degree in Computer Science at PUCE in Ecuador. It gave me the foundation to design applications and programming them. In the search of learning to be more creative, I found an art academy, a sort of atelier, where I got training in all the visual representation techniques that they offer. Besides, I always wanted to learn another language. Then, an open position in a company led me to learn and finish the English program at the Fulbright Commission.
